#1 of exclusive RSD 2011 releases that we’ll introduce in the next few days and you’ll find in our store, a personal highlight:
Freddie King was one of the giants of electric blues guitar. The Texas-born, Chicago-bred King merged country and urban influences into a distinctive, stinging style that became a crucial influence on such stellar rock axemen as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Rolling Stones’ Mick Taylor. Although he first recorded in the late ’50s, it was his 1961 LP Let’s Hide Away and Dance Away with Freddy King that put King on the map and turned the heads of budding guitarists on both sides of the Atlantic. Half a century later, it remains one of the most influential guitar albums of all time. For the first time on vinyl, this single presents alternate takes of the killer King instrumentals “Wash Out” and “Butterscotch,” taken from that album’s recording sessions.
